Affect COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund

We’re launching a small emergency relief fund for disabled BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) residing in Oregon affected by COVID-19. This microgrant is intended to help cover basic needs during the pandemic.

If we receive more requests than we have funds, Black and Indigenous folx will be prioritized.

April 27 update: requests are closed for now and after some issues with PayPal, we ended up distributing $950 to local BIPOC.

Receiving funds

Funds will be sent through PayPal or electronic bank payment and may take up to 10 business days to process once approved.

If we’re able to help, we’ll follow up via email to ask for payment preference, physical address, and phone number. You’ll have 48 hours to respond and claim your microgrant. After that, we may have to reassign the funds.

Note that we need to share your information with our fiscal sponsor, Allied Media Projects, in order for payments to be processed.

Potential questions

How do you define “disability?” We’re leaving that to you, as you know yourself best. Chronic and mental illnesses do count though!

How can I contribute to the fund? Our donation form is open and contributions are tax-deductible, as they are processed through our fiscal sponsor, 501(c)(3) Allied Media Projects. Thanks in advance!

How can I get in touch with you about other questions? Please email hi@affecttheverb.com.
